With interest rates remaining low, retiring Baby Boomers can feel like they are being PUSHED into stocks. Bonds are paying ridiculously low-interest rates. But is it really worth it to lock up your funds for 10 years to earn 2.5 percent on a treasury? That won’t even keep up with inflation! For that little return, many of us would rather invest in a stock with a 4 percent or 5 percent dividend yield. Today on Mastering Money, Steve will demonstrate how a stock whose price declines by thirteen percent over ten years can more than double the return on the treasury bond, increasing an investors account value by nearly seventy percent--while the S & P was busy losing more than ten percent. Learn the PROPER way to invest in dividends for higher returns and lower risk. You don't want to miss TODAY'S show. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

No matter what your political affiliation, there is one thing we likely ALL agree upon: we ALL want clean air and water! The cleaner the better! The disagreement always centers on HOW to get there. Socialist thinkers believe the government can be trusted to tax and legislate our way to cleaner air, even if the economy comes to a grinding halt. Capitalists keep developing new technology to get the job done. While it’s true that global CO2 emissions continue to rise worldwide, many people are startled to learn that the USA easily leads the world in reducing CO2 output. Today on Mastering Money, Steve and I will review the disaster that would ensue if all petroleum-based products were outlawed, including everything you use made of plastic and nylon. It may shock you. Then health insurance expert Shelley Grandidge joins us for the Q & A. You don't want to miss today's show...MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

A new trend is developing among well to do people who like to travel,  and who want to own a piece of several beautiful homes in desirable resort areas. Rather than owning a multi-million-dollar vacation property they may visit just once or twice a year, or buy a timeshare that stuffs them into a condo, many are opting to buy bite-sized pieces of luxury real estate they’ve acquired through fractional ownership.
From Hawaii to Italy, to ski resorts,  these private-residence clubs offer luxury by the slice, says the Wall Street Journal. Owners buy a fraction of the property and are guaranteed a certain number of days, weeks, or months to do as they please-- backed by fully deeded real estate. We'll review the Journal's report and then welcome travel expert Ruby Kelly with Ruby Kelly Travel for the Q & A. You don't want to miss today's show, MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

New York City is set to become the first big city in the country to put in place a charge on vehicles entering its most congested streets, and it took a booming economy, grinding traffic and a subway crisis to seal the deal. According to Paul Berger writing for the Wall Street Journal, drivers will soon pay a fee to enter Manhattan’s midtown and downtown areas, with the expectation it will reduce gridlock while raising billions of dollars needed to restore the city’s struggling mass transit system.  The model for the city is London-- where the success of what they are calling “Congestion Pricing” over the past 16 years has allowed London city officials to expand sidewalks and pedestrian areas, add bike lanes and reconfigure roadways to make them more bicycle and pedestrian friendly. They have speeded up buses by nearly 30%. We'll review the Journal's report with MIT's insights on how driverless cars may make traffic congestion worse, NOT BETTER!  You don't want to miss today's show. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!

As stocks continue to climb, some investors wonder when to jump out according to the Wall Street Journal. Many worry about being heavily invested in stocks-- during what appears to be the late stage of an economic cycle. Similarities are being drawn to 1999 and 2007. What happened next was not good for retired investors who did not make adjustments beforehand. The S&P 500 is on track for the BEST four-month start to the year in more than THREE decades, posting a 16% gain to within less than 30 points of a record! While the index’s surge has been a surprise to many investors, it is a justifiable concern to others. Today, we'll review an in-depth Wall Street Journal report on the market, and then how to build retirement wealth the SMART way. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

The upside of the stock market is that it can build exceptional wealth with great liquidity. The danger is that we take on the future being re-active rather than pro-active. The risk of a market crash can never be eliminated, but it can be mitigated. The reasons to diversify are everywhere you look, but the danger is that we as investors overestimate our ability to see danger coming. We simply can't. We believe that bad things happen to other people—research confirms it over and over. There are more than seven types of risk almost every investor is taking right now, and some of that risk is at or near an all-time high. Steve will review each of those risks today and how to build, grow and protect your nest egg. You don't want to miss it. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!

Cannabis stocks have been a volatile but largely outperforming group in 2019. Plenty of marijuana stocks, including Aurora Cannabis(ACB), Canopy Growth (CGC), and Cronos Group (CRON), have soared over 50% in 2019. The gold rush mentality is alive and well, but analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch warn that while some companies are living up to the hype, others have risen too far, too fast—and investors could get burned. Today, we'll continue our educational series on cannabis and marijuana-related stocks and then Steve interviews one of the cannabis industry's leading spokesperson, Todd A. Harrison, an investment consultant and former Morgan Stanley vice president of Global Derivatives, followed by advice on building retirement wealth the SMART WAY. ....MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

Have you wondered who is right about raising or lowering corporate taxes? How do corporate tax rates affect the economy, the stock market, and American wages? According to the Tax Foundation, one of the most significant provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 was to permanently lower the federal corporate income tax rate, decreasing it from 35 percent to 21 percent. Prior to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the U.S. combined corporate income tax rate was the HIGHEST in the world. Many corporations fled the country, taking jobs and tax revenue with them, to countries like Ireland which has a 12.5% corporate rate. Today, we'll explore the empirical evidence on corporate tax rates, and it may shock you! Then, health insurance and Medicare specialist Shelley Grandidge joins us for the Q & A. You don't want to miss today's show. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!
