The upside of the stock market is that it can build exceptional wealth with great liquidity. The danger is that we take on the future being re-active rather than pro-active. The risk of a market crash can never be eliminated, but it can be mitigated. The reasons to diversify are everywhere you look, but the danger is that we as investors overestimate our ability to see danger coming. We simply can't. We believe that bad things happen to other people—research confirms it over and over. There are more than seven types of risk almost every investor is taking right now, and some of that risk is at or near an all-time high. Steve will review each of those risks today and how to build, grow and protect your nest egg. You don't want to miss today's show. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!

Did you know that there is only one time you should accept an optional early retirement offer, according to Matt Krantz writing for Money Magazine?  In 2018, U.S. companies announced plans to cut 46,100 jobs due to voluntary severance, which includes buyouts and early retirement offers. This was up considerably from the much smaller 5,000 buyout offers and early retirements in 2017. Therefore,  Krantz says don’t be surprised if you happen to get an early offer soon! But he warns there is only one time when you should accept the offer, and we will share that with you today--along with tips on how to build retirement wealth the SMART way!  MASTERING MONEY is on the air!

Your brain is making you poorer, says Morgan Housel writing for the Motley Fool. Good investing requires research that has no bias, focused purely on the numbers. Good research requires using your brain to be objective and to allow the facts to overrule your opinions. But behavioral psychologists say that when you are doing research on your own from sources like Google, you haven’t got a chance.  Why? Brain scientists tell us we come hardwired with at least 15 mental biases that cause us to misinterpret information inaccurately,  ending up in poor decisions...decisions that cost you money!  Today, we’ll review a number of these biases and what you can do to protect yourself from your worst enemy! You don't want to miss today's show...MASTERING MONEY is on the air...

When fiascos like 2008 occur, investor confidence can fall to an all-time low. Then, low confidence leads to more sell-offs. Until confidence returns, the market will stay down. When markets fall, many investors wonder whether or not investing in stocks is worth all the hassle. Rather than feeling like investors, they may feel like they are simply gambling with their money.   But is investing really the same as gambling? Well, that depends on your strategy and whether or not you ACTUALLY HAVE a mathematical and systematic approach to the market. Today we'll review a systematic approach and learn to build wealth the SMART way. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

For most of 2018, as for most of the past 10 years, U.S. equities substantially outperformed those around the world, acting as a haven from worries about global growth slowing down. This reversed suddenly in the final quarter of the year when investors started to fear that a U.S. recession could be closer than they had thought. The Journal says that because the U.S. economy is showing even more evidence of being the world's strongest economy, it will still be a better bet than emerging market stocks and European stocks because those markets have become too dependent on China. The U.S. has become less dependent on China. Today, we'll review the Journal's evidence with tips on how you should allocate money in 2019. Don't miss today's show...MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

When fiascos like the 2008 meltdown occur, investor confidence can hit at an all-time low and many investors sell. But then they see the market come back--- and they begin to kick themselves for not staying in the game when they had the chance.  It happens every time.  The 2008 Crash proved one thing for sure: even after the “Mother” of all Market Crashes, investment money started flowing back into stocks eventually, proving that the stocks of companies with necessary products, delivering necessary services, and making sustainable profits, eventually come back at price and KEEP on growing.  Why? It is a simple matter of supply and demand. Today, we'll explore a clearly defined strategy to help you build retirement wealth for the long haul. Don't miss it!!  MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!
