No disease outbreak in the modern era has caused
countries the size of China or Italy to quarantine vast populations
triggering a widespread collapse in supply chains, trade,
business, and social activity. The last three outbreaks—SARS in
2003, avian flu in 2005, and MERS in 2015—subsided after three
months, followed by a six- to eight-month recovery in air traffic,
according to Barrons.
Air travel plunged 40% in the two months after the 9/11 attacks but
gradually recovered. During those crises, buyers of Southwest
Airlines ended up doing pretty well, but it took guts to step up.
There may be several airlines presenting an opportunity today,
according to Barrons. Steve and I will review those in the Market
Intel segment, then mortgage advisor Mitch Boxberger joins us for
the Q & A. A very timely show you don't want to miss...MASTERING
