One of the most impactful--but least discussed parts-- of the recently released Joe Biden tax plan is the elimination of the "step-up-in-basis" upon death. Many American families have enjoyed the ability to pass on appreciated assets like the family home, real estate, and stocks held at brokerages to the next generation without any capital gains tax.  Whether you have built up a nice stock portfolio or paid off your home and hope to leave it to your kids, Biden’s plan would eliminate that privilege and impose a capital gains tax upon.  But wait, there's more! His plan also makes gains taxable at the ordinary income rate, rather than the lower capital gains rate. We'll review the Tax Foundation's analysis. Then Medicare expert Shelley Grandidge joins us. A really important show you don't want to miss....MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!!

Nothing is a bargain in this world unless it serves a purpose and helps you achieve a goal.   Managing your own money to save a fee can work, but we all know the do-it-yourself approach seems to work BEST when markets are RISING! Rising markets tend to lift ALL boats.   As the saying goes, in a bull market, EVERYONE  is a genius!  But the real measure of how well your portfolio is being managed is not so much when markets are UP, but more when markets fall flat and then reverse. How do you KNOW if your money is in the right place? Well, lets put it this way. If you find yourself FEARING the next bear market rather than relishing the idea, your money is probably allocated poorly. Today, we'll review the FOUR KEY QUESTIONS you should be asking yourself right now, and how to arrive at clear answers!  MASTERING MONEY  is on the air!!!

Many retired investors today are hoping, waiting, and praying for interest rates on bonds to go up so they can retire in safety. According to economic analysis by a growing number of economists, they may be hoping, praying, and waiting a very long time.  Deflationary trends  have gripped the world forcing interest rates to near zero, and even below zero. Low rates help borrowers but hurt savers. One would think with all the money being printed that IN-flation would be the problem, not DEE-flation. But that's not the case. Retirees are facing the hardest investment decisions of their lives right now. Imagine: a million dollars in a ten year treasury bond will only pay you around SEVEN thousand dollars a year! You heard right, and you simply can't retire on that!  Today we'll analyze the problem, and define the most viable solutions. Then health insurance and Medicare expert Shelley Grandidge joins us. ...You don't want to miss TODAY'S show..... MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

We all know the difference between a mutual fund, a pension, and a savings account . You don’t spend too much time thinking about what a savings account IS, but rather, what it DOES for you. The same with a pension. A pension has one purpose: to pay you an income you can never outlive. Easy stuff. Mutual funds have typically one main purpose: to help you try to grow your money, but with more risk than a bank account or a pension. So, what is an annuity? Well, it can combine all of these features in one instrument. Today, we'll break down the basics of annuities to help make them simple and easy to understand. A fact filled show you don't want to miss, MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!!

Most investors in or near retirement are looking for three main things for their nest eggs: Number 1) ample liquidity, number 2) permanent, worry-free reliable income to cover all expenses, and number 3) an effective and systematic way to grow money in the stock market over time. Mainly, they don't want to lose half their money to the next bear market, and they want to be certain they will never run short of income. Real wealth consists of permanent ample cash flow, not just piles of money that can be lost. That’s why more investors are making life more simple, and bucketing their retirement money into a combination of dividend stocks and high-quality Next Generation income annuities. Today, we'll review the key points you need to know about how to win with dividend stocks, Don't miss it...MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!!

So, just where do your beliefs and opinions come from? If you're like most people, you feel that your convictions are rational, logical, and impartial, based on the result of years of experience and objective analysis of the information you have available.  In reality, all of us are susceptible to faulty thinking and emotional biases--often at the sub-conscious level.   Even the smartest person on earth can make errors in judgement. Today we'll review why Behavioral scientists say you are susceptible to making the same investment mistakes over and over, and exactly how to fix it. Then Health insurance and Medicare Expert Shelley Grandidge joins us for the Q & A.   A fascinating show you don't want to miss...MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

Retirement planning is a multi-dimensional undertaking. Done properly, retirement planning spans two-thirds of a person’s life. Ideally, retirement planning begins at the point a person begins working, and continues for at least thirty years and beyond.  The advent of the 401k plan has created a generation of millionaires-on-paper who have accumulated over a million dollars when combining retirement accounts, investments, and home equity. Studies show that people with a million dollars in 401ks and IRAs have something in common:  Almost all of them worry they will run out of money one day.  They worry that the market will crash, taxes will rise, social security will go broke, and inflation cuts their buying power in half.  Today, we’ll talk about five specific retirement planning REALITIES that you can't get wrong, for those who HAVE had a good fortune--and the fortitude--to accumulate a substantial 401k.  Don't miss today's show--MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!

Historically, there’s a 91% chance of the stock market giving you a positive return over any particular 10 year period.  Here’s the problem: the 91 percent of positive ten year periods have come AFTER recessions and poor markets. The worst ten year periods have come after long bull market expansions, like we're in now.  In or near retirement, THAT'S an important thing to consider. Question: How much of your money should be in the market, and how much OUT of the market right now? What will happen in 2021? Where will the markets be in a year. Today you will hear analysis from several investment managers, Steve will reveal how the Black Diamond Dividend Strategy works in flat and down markets to keep building wealth. Then, the famous host of the MOTLEY FOOL MONEY SHOW, Chris Hill joins us. It's going to be a great show you don't want to miss. MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!!
